Dana White Explains Losing $3 Million While Blackout Drunk

Dana White once lost a stunning amount of money after boozing just a bit too hard.

White is a notorious blackjack player in Las Vegas, and unlike the average person in Sin City, he hits the table hard and gambles big money.

I like to hit tables that won't break me if I lose after hours and hours of gambling. Dana White has a bit of a different vibe, and it once cost him $3 million while he was hammered.

Dana White explains losing $3 million while drunk.

White appeared on Lex Fridman's podcast, and shared an incredible story about hitting the blackjack tables in Las Vegas after a night with friends in Vegas. Unlike his regular night, this one cost him big. He explained that he lost $3 million after getting blackout drunk and didn't even remember it.

"[The casino host] goes, 'Yeah, you made us call the GM of the hotel and you started calling him a f*cking p*ssy.' And I went, ‘Yeah, that sounds like something I would do,’" the UFC boss admitted when explaining how his line of credit got raised. Yet, he doesn't take the situation personally or attempt to deflect blame.

"Man up. You got f*cking drunk, right? Alcohol is free, but you don't have to f*cking drink it, know what I mean. This was a huge learning lesson from me. I never drank again when I was playing cards after that night," White added when talking about people who make excuses.

Dana White learned to not get too drunk while gambling.

Just from a pure safety standpoint, getting blackout drunk while in Las Vegas probably isn't the smartest decision a person can make. There's a lot of shady individuals around. Fortunately, Dana White is a big guy.

However, getting blackout drunk and hitting the blackout tables is a recipe for disaster. That's what the casinos want to see. After all, those big resorts weren't built by winners, and gamblers aren't getting free drinks because the casinos are generous.

They want you liquored up and lubricated so that you're more willing to make foolish gambling decisions. It worked like a charm on Dana White. As he said, the booze is free, but nobody is forcing anyone to drink it.

Imagine losing more money in a few hours at the tables than a lot of Americans earn in a lifetime. Welcome to life as a very successful businessman. Let me know what you think of White's experience at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
