Bill Maher Takes A Blowtorch To Woke Liberal Fantasy That Canada Is A Utopia

Bill Maher gave people who love Canada a blunt reality check.

Canada has always been put on a pedestal by liberal Americans as an example of what liberalism should look like. Insanely strict gun laws, limits on speech, universal health care and centralized government power. Yet, is it actually as great as people claim?

Not at all, and Maher broke out some facts Friday night during the latest episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher." He pointed out Canada's health care system is bloated and failing from a financial standpoint, the country has serious pollution issues and it's not all sunshine and roses.

Furthermore, he wants people to see Canada as an example of what happens when wokeness wins.

Bill Maher tears down fantasy about Canada being a utopia.

"I need to cite [Canada] as a cautionary tale to help my country. And the moral of that tale is, yes, you can move too far left, and when you do, you wind up pushing the people in the middle to the right. At its worst, Canada is what American voters think happens when there's no one putting a check on extreme wokeness," Maher explained after rattling off fact after fact dispelling the notion that Canada is some kind of amazing utopia.

He further told his audience, "They say in politics liberals are the gas pedal and conservatives are the brakes. And I'm generally with the gas pedal, but not if we're driving off a cliff."

Maher also noted that America has gone absolutely way too far on the transgender issue and is an "outlier" in the world at this point.

Maher continues to be a strong voice for reason on the left, and this video is just the latest proof of that fact. Canada is far from paradise. How do we know? Because the most talented and smart people in Canada all have one thing in common:

They're already living in America where they can make way more money.

Let's not forget that there's no freedom of speech in Canada. The bank accounts of truckers who protested the government were frozen and unbelievably draconian anti-speech laws have been proposed.

Does that sound like freedom to you? Does that sound like utopia? It certainly doesn't to me, and the fact you're reading this tells me you probably feel the same.

Bill Maher, who definitely has his faults, deserves to be applauded for seemingly being the only one willing to call out his own side. Hopefully, more people follow his lead. Let me know if you agree at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
