Recovering QB Prescott Says He Could Play 'Right Now'

The Dallas Cowboys are ready to put the 2020 season behind them, as the team limped to a tough 6-10 mark and missed the postseason in the NFC.

The team was going to have an uphill climb from the moment the team lost franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, who missed a majority of the season with an ankle fracture.

There was plenty of speculation about whether Prescott would even be back in Dallas in 2021, as the team had to make a tough fiscal decision about Prescott's contract.

On Tuesday, Prescott insisted he's closing in on 100 percent.

"I'm close," Prescott said, via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

"I can go play in a game right now and in my head be very, very successful. So there is no doubt when that I need to be successful. When I need to do the things that it takes to be on the field, I'll do exactly that, and the timing will be right."

Doctors fixed a compound fracture and dislocation in his right ankle after Prescott was hurt in an early October game at home against NFC East rivals the New York Giants.

In December, Prescott got a cleanup of the same ankle to strengthen it. The second surgery would have occurred at some point regardless of what took place against the Giants that Sunday in Dallas.

Now, though, Prescott is excited and ready to get back on the playing field and show what he can do for the Cowboys once again.

The NFC East has undergone quite a shift at the quarterback spot, with Washington bringing in Ryan Fitzpatrick, New York sticking with Daniel Jones, the Eagles going with either second-year QB Jalen Hurts or veteran Joe Flacco, and Prescott ready to go again with the Cowboys.
