McCarthy: QB Prescott Rehab 'Ahead Of Schedule'

The health of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is one of the biggest storylines for Dallas this offseason.

The big question will be whether Prescott's broken ankle will be totally healed and ready to go for the 2021 season.

On Tuesday, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said that Prescott is "right on track or maybe a little ahead of schedule" as he returns from the compound fracture.

McCarthy claims he was at Prescott's workout on Saturday, and that the QB had the most extensive workout he's had so far.

"I was very impressed with his progress," McCarthy said.

"Just coming off the type of injury. His footwork, he's doing all the normal movements that you look to do in a quarterback-school format this time of year."

Though the Cowboys' defense struggled in historic fashion last season, Prescott was off to a tremendous start throwing the ball before his injury last October.

By that point, Prescott had already thrown for 1856 yards, nine TDs and four picks. A four-to-six-month recovery period was predicted after his injury.

In over five years in the NFL, Prescott has thrown 106 touchdowns and 40 picks.

The 27-year-old inked a six-year, $240 million deal from the Cowboys this offseason. It includes $126 million guaranteed and a record $66 million signing bonus.
