Cousin Sal Iacono announced today that he is forming a new media company called Extra Points. The primary focus at first will be sports gambling, but it will also cover comedy. He quipped in the release: “As a betting man, I think it’s a wise move to start up a sports media empire during a global pandemic. What could possibly go wrong?”
The main podcast, also called Extra Points, debuted today with Sal and his longtime friend Dave Dameshek as co-host. You can find it on a number of podcast platforms.
Sal will continue to appear on FS1 with Rachel Bonnetta, Todd Fuhrman, and Outkick founder Clay Travis; the show, which has been off air during the pandemic for the last few months, returns today at 4pm ET. It has been rebranded from Lock It In to now be called FOX Bet Live.
Sal will also continue to appear on Bill Simmons’ podcast for weekly Guess the Lines banter during football season. The Against the Odds podcast, which was previously hosted on The Ringer, will transition to the new Extra Points umbrella.
Cousin “If your tweet turns out to be false months later, just delete it and pretend it never happened” Sal
I’m not big into the sports betting (a good trait to have being from Las Vegas) other than betting on a Superbowl winner, so this doesn’t move the needle for me.
I’m sure he’s a great guy and all. But if all he’s going to do is repeat the same false narrative that every other show is doing and appease the social media mob, he’s never going to make it. If he’s muted Clay’s twitter feed, and asking him to tone it down, then he’s already a slave to social media and I’m not interested.
