Could The Niners Move QB Jimmy Garoppolo After The Draft?

Videos by OutKick

The San Francisco 49ers have stood by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, despite all the rumors that the team is set move the veteran.

The Niners have been vocal that a trade with the quarterback is NOT forthcoming, and that as of now, Garoppolo is the No. 1 QB to start 2021.

Not so fast.

Michael Giardi of NFL Network says that, no matter how often the Niners make the declaration that they won’t trade Garoppolo, NFL teams that need a QB are very much still willing to talk. Giardi says that San Francisco is still demanding a first-round pick for Garoppolo, no matter who calls.

However, some in the league also believe that the Niners may drop the price after the NFL Draft, once they select a quarterback No. 3 overall, which everyone expects them to do.

There has to be a breaking point with Garoppolo sometime soon. The Niners either have to move him or put him under center. They need to stop with the back and forth and keeping the quarterback in limbo.

  1. As a Niner fan for the life of me I don’t understand why they would move off of Jimmy. Let the rookie sit behind him for a year or two and if Jimmy goes down due to injury well there you go. If we can stay healthy this team will be stacked and ready for a run at the big prize. I don’t see the logic in putting all that on the back of a rookie if a team can help it.
