Could Eagles' QB Situation Give Them Leverage Come Draft Time?

There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles this season. The team's record currently sits at 4-10-1 heading into the final week of the regular season, but there is at least clarity in one area: quarterback.

Philadelphia won't be looking for a franchise signal-caller in the offseason. There are two options on the roster the coaching staff won't be ready to give up on. It'll either be Jalen Hurts heading into his second season or former No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz.

According to Dan Roche with NBC Sports, having the participants in the looming quarterback battle already on the roster gives the Eagles an advantage heading into draft season. We still don't officially know which quarterbacks will be available in the 2021 NFL Draft, but here are a few of the possibilities.

The class should at least consist of five of those six prospects, which means the potential for adding a long-term option will be there for QB-needy teams. As Roche points out, that could make Philadelphia's top-10 pick a hot commodity.

Trading down an accumulating extra picks could help general manager Howie Roseman and company some needed flexibility to get this franchise out of the gutter. The return of a few offensive linemen will help, but there are plenty of holes that need to be addressed.

The secondary, both at cornerback and safety, is a major need. So is linebacker, wide receiver and more help along the offensive line. Considering the Eagles are projected to have one of the worst cap situations in the league, those needs will need to be addressed with picks.

That will help the quarterbacks already on the roster.
