Conor McGregor Makes Big Investment In Irish Pub

MMA fighter Conor McGregor is opening a gastropub in his hometown of Crumlin, Ireland, and he's paying way more than he probably should to make it all happen.

An auctioneer familiar with the transaction said McGregor may be “slightly out of tone" with the going rate in the area, but that it reflects “the property’s worth to the individual purchaser," Dublin Live reports.

The 32-year-old lightweight fighter has reportedly invested more than $3 million into the Black Forge pub in the south Dublin suburb, Daily News reports. He has reportedly spent $2.29 million to buy the pub and another $1.2 million to renovate the establishment.

McGregor is reportedly worth more than $139 million and still recovering from the second-round TKO that Dustin Poirer put him through during UFC 257 earlier this year.

McGregor and his fiancée Dee Devlin are expecting their third child, and DublinLive reports the two still pay visits to the bar that has remained closed during COVID-19 restrictions.

That dealer speculates the Irish sportsman’s celebrity status could help to attract more business than what the average bar owner might expect.

News of McGregor’s involvement in the pub broke last year, but little else has been revealed, not even the menu details.

It's likely Black Forge visitors will be able to order McGregor's Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey, which the lightweight fighter launched in 2018, the Daily News reports.
