Colts Veteran Tackle Anthony Castonzo Announces Retirement After 10 Seasons

Anthony Castonzo had just about seen and done it all during his career with the Indianapolis Colts.

Tuesday he decided that his career in the NFL had run its course.

The 32-year-old veteran offensive tackle announced his retirement on twitter Tuesday morning, ending a solid career protecting the likes of Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett and this past season Philip Rivers.

Castonzo spent all ten seasons with the Colts, and was also known off the field as one of the best in terms of giving of his time for charity and helping others.

He was the 22nd overall pick by the Colts back in 2011, and in his career played in 144 games with Indy, starting all of them with one touchdown.

The linemen played his college ball at Boston College before entering the NFL Draft to be chosen by the Colts.

Last March he signed a two-year, $33 million contract extension with the Colts, and he played up until late December when it was announced that he had to have surgery on an injured ankle.

The Colts don't have much in terms of depth to replace Castonzo on their offensive line, so look for the team to look to the draft or free agency this offseason to find his replacement.
