Colts Taking A Long Look At Wentz, Winston To Fill Their Vacant QB Spot

The Indianapolis Colts are one of many teams around the league looking for a quarterback now that veteran Philip Rivers has retired.

The club has been evaluating the free agent market for quarterbacks as well as determining what they would have to do to get a starter via trade.

A couple quarterbacks who are on the short list for the Colts, according to NFL reporter Evan Massey, are the Philadelphia Eagles former first-round pick Carson Wentz and New Orleans backup and former Buccaneers first-overall pick Jameis Winston.

Wentz is unhappy that the team sat him for rookie Jalen Hurts late in their disappointing season, but he could be right back in the starter role in 2021 with Doug Pederson now gone.

Winston is set to hit the free agent market after one one season as the backup to Drew Brees in New Orleans.

Brees has yet to announce his decision for the future, but many feel he will eventually announce his retirement from the game.

Saints coach Sean Payton reportedly still has plans for Winston, even though when Brees was hurt last year, New Orleans went with Taysom Hill as their starter at quarterback.

However it plays out, expect the Colts to be in the mix for a number of quarterbacks this offseason as they look to replace Rivers in the starting lineup.
