Colts GM Ballard: WR Corps Ready For Big 2021

The Indianapolis Colts enter the 2021 season with many feeling that the weak point of the club is the wide receiver position.

Parris Campbell, Michael Pittman Jr., Dezmon Patmon, and JJ Nelson make up the top four of the Colts receiving corps. Not exactly a foursome that will strike fear into many defensive backfields.

The team will also have a new person throwing the ball to those receivers, former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.

One person who thinks the Colts wide out corps isn't as bad as it seems is GM Chris Ballard, who on The Athletic Football Show recently stood up for his pass catchers.

“I’m betting on Michael Pittman, who I think’s got a chance to be really good,” Ballard said.

“I thought he ended the year strong. He had a big playoff game with over 100 yards. Everybody just ignores Zach Paschal, but all he’s done is catch (10) touchdowns over the last two years.

"And then getting Parris Campbell back is a big bonus, and he’s looked great during the offseason. We think we’re a little better than other people do.”

The group in 2020 was ranked 24th in their position by Pro Football Focus, a number that the team hopes will improve in 2021.
