College Football AP Top 25 Poll Breakdown

The latest AP poll has been released. Given that six of last week's top 25 teams lost, there was some movement. Here's the current list:

6. Ohio State
7. Miami
8. North Carolina
9. Penn State
10. Oklahoma State
11. Cincinnati
12. Oregon
13. Auburn
14. Tennessee
15. BYU
16. Wisconsin
17. LSU
18. SMU
19. Virginia Tech
20. Michigan
21. Texas A&M
22. Texas
23. Louisiana-Lafayette
24. Iowa State
25. Minnesota

Some observations:

1) Auburn went from no. 7 to 13 after losing to Georgia, Texas went from no. 9 to 22 no. after losing to TCU, and Texas A&M went from no. 13 to no. 21 after losing to Bama. Mississippi State (who lost to Arkansas), Oklahoma (who lost to Iowa State), Pitt (who lost to NC State), and Memphis (who lost to SMU) went from nos. 16, 18, 24, and 25, respectively, to out of the top 25.

2) The only change in the top six from last week is that Georgia leapfrogged Florida.

3) The leapers of the week: North Carolina fro, no. 12 to no. 8, Oklahoma State -- who is the last best hope for the Big 12 -- from no. 17 to no. 10, Tennessee from no. 21 to no. 14, and Cincinnati from no. 15 to no. 11.

4) Looking ahead to next week: The two games that stick out the most are Georgia-Tennessee (3:30 on CBS), and Miami-Clemson (7:30 on ABC).
