Coastal Carolina Already Back In The Spring Of Things

It's never too early to start spring practice. In fact, who says spring practice actually has to be held in the spring?

Not the good folks at Coastal Carolina, who are springing into action a lot sooner than perhaps any other football program.

How soon? Well, the 2021 Sun Belt Conference champions started "spring" practice Wednesday. Fifteen such sessions are scheduled in all, concluding with the annual Spring Game at Coastal Carolina's Brooks Stadium on Thursday, Feb. 18

This is actually nothing new for the Chanticleers. They started spring practice early last season, too. And guess what? They were one of just two Division I programs to squeeze in a full spring practice schedule during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It worked out pretty well. Coach Jamey Chadwell and Coastal won the first 11 games before suffering its lone loss, 37-34 to Liberty, in overtime in the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl.

So they may as well stick with what works. For Coastal Carolina, spring practice in the winter months is a tried and true idea.
