CNN Refuses To Mention My Name Or Outkick While Using Our Content

So yesterday on Outkick, I interviewed President Donald Trump.

You might have heard about it, it was kind of a big deal. Many people called it the greatest interview in history on the most successful radio show in sports radio history. And by “many people” I mean “my mom and dad.”

Anyway, we had requests for our President Trump interview — thanks again to the White House and the president for making the time for us — from media outlets all over the country and around the world. We were happy to share those clips, but we asked just one thing in exchange for doing so: the media outlet needed to credit Outkick the Coverage and Clay Travis for their clip.

That’s it!

We gave them our content and allowed them to use it for free and all we asked was they attribute where they got the content from.

That seems like an eminently reasonable request.

Most media outlets complied with this request. In fact, Fox News, to their credit, ran excerpts of our interview all day long on their network. And they identified either me or Outkick every single time as the source for their content.

But that was too much for some media outlets.

Such as ESPN, which agreed to credit Clay Travis and Outkick, and then failed to do so in their front page article that was based on our interview.

This is exactly why, by the way, we required the credentialing notice in the first place, because we knew outlets like ESPN and CNN, which have banned me from their airwaves, would do whatever they could to avoid mentioning me.

But CNN, which remains triggered I said I loved the first amendment and boobs, took things to an absurd level to avoid mentioning or crediting me on air.

Watch this clip from Don Lemon’s show, where he is, of course, accusing the president of racism. For, among other things, picking Michael Jordan as a better basketball player than LeBron James.

As you can see, THEY PLAY MY VOICE ON THEIR BROADCAST, but refer to me as a host on screen rather than by name. Even more ridiculous, they credit Fox Radio for the audio they play, which, unfortunately, doesn’t even exist.

Fox Sports Radio exists, Fox News Radio exists, but Fox Radio doesn’t exist.

So CNN didn’t use my name or our radio show’s name despite taking our audio and they also didn’t even credit an existing media company for the content they took.

I mean, this is next level embarrassing and dishonest for Don Lemon and CNN.

At least it would be.

If CNN had any ethics left at all.

OutKick founder, host and author. He's presently banned from appearing on both CNN and ESPN because he’s too honest for both.

  1. CNN? No ethics. No credibility. No class. To expect the network, let alone Don Lemon or Cris ‘Fredo’ Cuomo of anything more is fanciful.

You did have a good interview with the President though.

  2. Does not surprise me, Clay. The SJW types seem to think they operate by some mystic higher plane of morality we commoners in reality wouldn’t understand. They’ll apparently lie, cheat and steal if it serves the cause …whatever that is. They’re doing their duty to undermine the voices of reason so that opposition counter arguments are never heard. They’re basically trying to “disappearing you” from main stream channels. Onward!

  3. It’s quite the compliment really. Fear of a competitor, highlights the competitor even more.

When major media wants to use your stuff, but is ‘afraid’ to mention who made the stuff, aka content, You Have Made Some Big Waves 🌊.

I think BiG Media is coming for you Clay.
    Keep up the Great Work!

  4. Honestly, Clay, I am pretty much a middle-of-the-road American (who had never voted Republican, like Clay), and yet I am angered by these politically calculated and petty insults and unethical behaviors by CNN & ESPN, when the ethical and the appropriate thing is to credit the source and Outkick for the content they quoted. Is that too much to ask? Apparently so and it is obvious that the left-wing is just using media to wage wars on a reasonable middle America.

  5. Clay don’t break your arm trying to pat your self on the back. Trump like no other President in history talks openly to the America people. At why I vote for him an will do so again . There no Bullshit with Trump what you see is what you get .

  6. Why would CNN feel an obligation to credit a real source?
Its reporters and correspondents don’t know what that means, after making up so many “anonymous” ones through the years.

  7. Clay. Maybe because CNN was the first cable news network to establish itself and ESPN on the cable sports network front, there is some sort of legacy embers that still smolder. CNN is an old bag with which no amount of make-up can be presented as attractive. Who watches it – people stuck in airports? ESPN. I understand it has live sport content that drives viewership but there is not much I miss by not watching, NBA, MLB. Monday night football runs too late and after Sunday I’m well fed on football. This channel serves up mostly stale, uninteresting content 20 plus hours a day on multiple channels. I’ll give SVP a pass because there is some talent there but I’m inspecting the inside of my eyelids when he is on. I had to get ESPN+ for some soccer content so they got me there but that’s all they get.
You’ve got the open road ahead of you. You and Jason and the staff are sitting in a great place!

  8. Don Lemon is a fraud. He’s pretend to be pro-black while the cameras are rolling, but when the cameras go off, he go home to his white boyfriend, white friends in his predominantly white neighborhood.

  9. The problem with CNN is they try to pass themselves off as an impartial, straight news source. Which they’re not, of course….they’re as far left as MSNBC, though at least the latter admits their partisan leanings. FNC’s prime-time is generally right leaning opinion (especially Hannity, a noted Trump homer), and they state it as such, as opposed to their straight news guys i.e. Brett Baier and Chris Wallace. CNN, the supposed center option, has no such straight shooters…it’s all Trump bashing & identity politics, 24/7, a la MSNBC. But even by CNN’s lackluster standards, Don Lemon is an embarrassment to the network.

Not to mention, he is a content thief.

  10. Nothing like being talked down to from someone who is dumb. Dumb as in they are dumb. Added that last line to avoid being labeled – you know….racist. CNN is on fumes as I see it. They seem like a relic.
I wish a 5 star white athlete flipped out when a coach wore a CNN t-shirt. That’s some change a lot of us could get behind. Peacefully of course.

  11. Don Lemon thinks its a scoop that President of the United States doesn’t like people disrespecting the national anthem of the United States. It shows how detached the far left and leftist outfits like CNN are and really how much they hate America. They its a morally superior position to hate our country.

  12. Clay, I thought you did great! Congratulations to you for getting the USA President on the phone!!! It’s obvious that your name is not mentioned by the other networks because they are afraid of people listening to Outkick. Sports are coming back!! The show is a sport talk show. I’m very disappointed about some college football conferences canceling the season. But I heard cowherd echoing what you have been saying, and especially after hearing your conversation with Petros this morning. This is not the college football cancelation article, but I don’t have time to comment really about anything. I’m glad I have something else to read about other than the NBA. Keep up the great work Clay! You and Jason and your team are doing great work!

  13. Great interview although MSM is so embarrassing they won’t even follow your simple guidelines to promote their anti Trump agenda. ESPN and CNN ratings have tanked and they wonder why?
Great job Clay and congratulations to you and Jason. Keep being REAL!

  14. I really hope you are ready for what is coming your name-

you are swimming against the sports media tide and they are going to do everything to take you out…. including going after your sponsors……. but as the Rusbo always said……. and you know this to be true…

“if the media didn’t make you- the media can’t take you out…… only you can”…..

spoke to a buddy of mine in New Hampshire…….. he said his wife is now listening to you in the mornings……… she doesn’t know shit about sports……. but she really like you….. who knew you had a constituency of 60 year old married woman 😉

  15. Clay, Getting Senator Josh Hawley was impressive. You follow it up with Governor Ron DeSantis. Then the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Now the Governor of the great state of Texas Greg Abbot. Good God, Clay. Can you get Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher or Winston Churchill?

  16. Trump is no dumbo. Someone got to him and advised getting on OK. He may have come to the idea himself. This radio show, site and everything related to it are a rocket ship launching. If I wasn’t busy peddling plastics in Pennsylvania I would say to myself there is mile wide fairway ahead for straight non boring sports talk. Clay you are appointment listening each morning. Thank you for what you do. When you one day get the tee up from Dub that we have Glenn from Pennsylvania, calling in get your popcorn ready, I’m bringing a heavy load of reality.
