Clay Travis: 'I Give Props To Sen. Rand Paul For Holding Dr. Fauci Accountable'

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Dr. Anthony Fauci engaged in another heated exchange during a Tuesday senate hearing on the response to COVID-19.

Paul took aim at emails that show Fauci contributed in the smearing of doctors from Harvard, Oxford and Stanford that shared different opinions from his own. Paul cited the exact email and called it "reprehensible."

"Instead of engaging them on the merits, you and Dr. Collins sought to smear them as fringe and take them down, and not in journals in lay press," Fauci said, via FOX News. "This is not only antithetical to the scientific method, it's the epitome of cheap politics, and it's reprehensible, Dr. Fauci."

Fauci fired back at Paul, accusing the senator of resorting to personal attacks to get his position across.

"You keep coming back to personal attacks on me that have absolutely no relevance to reality," Fauci said.

OutKick's Clay Travis gave his take on the exchange Tuesday, calling out Fauci for not being clear during the hearing.

"Fauci continues to fight with Rand Paul and not provide, in my opinion, very sound answers as to why he was attempting to martial scientists to shut down any discussion of the possibility that this virus might have originated in a lab and escaped there, as opposed to originating from an animal and jumping to a human," Travis said.

Travis went on to commend Paul for holding Fauci accountable, when so many in the media have not.

"I give props to Sen. Rand Paul for holding Dr. Fauci accountable, when a huge number of people involved in our media refuse to ask legitimate questions of Dr. Fauci at all," Travis said.
