Clay Travis: Georgia Defense The True Storyline Entering Title Game Vs. Alabama

Videos by OutKick

Georgia? Or Alabama? If you ask their coaches, both teams playing in the NCAA championship game aren’t really all that good.

At least, that seems to be the current narrative.

“Ultimately, here’s the storyline for the next week — both Nick Saban (Alabama) and Kirby Smart (Georgia) are going to try to convince their teams that everybody thinks they stink and that nobody has any respect for them,” OutKick founder Clay Travis said on FOX Bet Live. “Despite the fact that these are clearly the two best teams in college football.”

This also despite Alabama crushing Cincinnati and Georgia pummeling Michigan in the semifinals. So what’s the real story when the bitter SEC rivals meet for all the marbles on Monday?

“To me, this storyline is which Georgia defense is going to show up,” Clay said. “Is it going to be the one that got exposed? Georgia gave up more points in the second quarter to Alabama (in an SEC title game loss), then they have in any game this season.”

Clay doesn’t expect a repeat.

“This is Kirby Smart’s opportunity to finally beat Nick Saban,” Clay said. “I like the under and I like Georgia to bring home a National Championship.”

  1. I agree with Clay. It’s Hard to even beat a good team twice in one season, so it’s going to be next to impossible to beat a great team like UGA twice. Forget about it. UGA is going to come looking for blood against the Tide. Honestly wouldn’t surprise me to see Georgia boat race Bama this time.
