Clay Mathews Dunks All Over Adam Schefter On Twitter

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted this morning that Clay Mathews was "not going to play" if he signed a deal with the Denver Broncos. Just an hour later, Clay Mathews himself jumped off the top rope to kick dirt on the report.

The report was obviously proven false, but Schefter's "information" didn't make any sense. Why would Denver reach out to a free agent linebacker to replace Von Miller for a role on the pine?

Most interesting about the Mathews clap back was that he added the rat emojis at the end! Clearly no love lost for Adam Schefter. Schefter would send off another tweet just before the Mathews reply that again, didn't make any football sense:

Media members have grown accustomed to telling us how a player feels before a player can get a chance to tell us himself. Where does Adam Schefter get any information on how Mathews feels or what options he's weighing? Clearly didn't speak with Mathews or his agent, so i guess we'll never know why he felt compelled to tweet.

Luckily for Schefter, reporters release false information routinely with absolutely no consequence. At least we can get a laugh out of it.
