Chris Paul's Injury Looms Over Playoffs

The Phoenix Suns edged out the Los Angeles Lakers 99-90 in Game 1 of the first-round series on Sunday. They are one game up on the defending champs, which is great. However, the thrill of the win is mitigated by Chris Paul's shoulder injury. Paul is hurt. He even struggled to dribble the ball. It's a wonder he finished the game.

"Announced as a 'shoulder contusion.' By video, more right shoulder subluxation with worry for labral damage. @CP3 heroically returned but play was understandably subpar. Not related to 2014 separated shoulder," OutKick's Dr. Chao tweets.

For Suns fans, NBA fans, and those who just root against the Lakers -- that is problematic.

Phoenix is stacked with young talent who have never been here before. Chris Paul, the team's leader, has. Paul and his experience are invaluable to the team's success.

It's hard to imagine the Suns winning three more games with Paul at limited capacity. He couldn't even shoot straight. No word on whether Paul will able to continue this series.

Looking ahead, Lakers 4-2, which is at +340 on FanDuel, is most likely. But at +750, I'm intrigued by the Lakers 4-1. Bet that and the rest of the series now at FanDuel.

Game 2 tips off Tuesday.
