Chris Godwin Out For Year As Bucs Super Bowl Hopes Wane

Tampa Bay Bucs' wide receiver Chris Godwin tore his ACL on Sunday, an MRI on Monday showed. Godwin will miss the remainder of the NFL season.

This is a significant blow to the Bucs' Super Bowl hopes. As Tampa proved yesterday, they are not the same team without Godwin on the field.

Godwin leads the Bucs with 98 receptions, 29 more than the next player, Leonard Fournette. Godwin also has the most receiving yards on the team, at 1,103.

Moreover, the Bucs will likely have to win on the road in the playoffs. Tampa fell to the NFC's third seed on Sunday, behind Green Bay and Dallas. And with Sunday's loss, the Bucs all but learned that they would not catch the Packers, who lead the Bucs by a game in the win column and hold the tiebreaker.

All in, I would rank the Bucs behind the Packers, Cowboys, Rams, and Cardinals in the NFC hierarchy. As of now, the Bucs would meet the red-hot 49ers in the first round.

As for Godwin, he played this season on the franchise tag and is set to be a free agent this offseason.
