Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes To Undergo Surgery On Injured Toe

The World's Most Famous Toe, which belongs to Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, is set for repair. Mahomes is fresh off a 31-9 drubbing to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Mahomes entered the game with the ol' turf toe, and according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, is scheduled to have surgery on it Wednesday.

"It’s not clear what the 2021 offseason will look like, but Patrick Mahomes will almost certainly be off the field for it as he recovers," Rapoport wrote. "But most importantly, Mahomes should be good to go for the 2021 regular season."

Mahomes finished 26-of-49 for 270 yards and two interceptions in Super Bowl LV. He also rushed for 33 yards, but the Chiefs failed to score a touchdown. It was a clunker of performance from an offense that had been dyn-o-mite throughout the regular and postseason. But much of their limited production in the Big Game was simply the result of the Buccaneers' determined defense, and not so much the fault of Mahomes.

With all the key parts expected to return, the Chiefs should be in the thick of things again next season, when Mahomes and all ten of his toes should be ready to go.
