Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy Has Interviewed With Every Team But One

Videos by OutKick

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is destined for a new team. That’s pretty obvious now that he has completed interviews for five head coaching vacancies.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bieniemy has interviewed with the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars. So, that covers every team with a coaching opening, with the mere exception of the Houston Texans. Though that may sound like a whirlwind, especially right before the playoffs begin, the NFL isn’t allowing in-person interviews , so talking to five teams in a couple of days isn’t really that difficult.

The Lions and Falcons are still seeking a GM, and it’s not clear whether they will hire a coach before they hire his direct supervisor. Perhaps Bieniemy would be considered for one of those dual roles.

Bieniemy, 51, has been the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator under Andy Reid since 2018. Before that, Bieniemy served as the team’s running backs coach (2013-17). He also worked with the Minnesota Vikings, UCLA and the University of Colorado.

He has been credited with helping develop Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

  1. I have lived in Houston for long time. Have been Packer fan my whole life. Yes, even when we had a shitty QB. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ERIC B. STAY AWAY FROM THE DUMPSTER FIRE THAT IS THE TEXANS. OWNER IS JUNIOR FROM SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT.

  2. Hey Sam,
Gotta ask the question about the proverbial 800lb dilemma in the room.
If Eric Bieniemy is the KC OC…then what the hell is Big Red doing covering his mouth before every play with a laminated play sheet talking to Paddy Mahomes??? Is this like, taboo, to ask???
