Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid will not be traveling with the team to Tampa Bay for Super Bowl LV after he was involved in a Thursday evening car accident.
Reid is the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and the team’s linebackers coach. Britt Reid admitted to drinking alcohol before the accident, which involved two children, per reports. One of them, a 5-year old, suffered life-threatening injuries.
The accident reportedly happened on Interstate 435 near the Chiefs’ practice facility, Thursday at around 9 p.m. “Reid reportedly told police that the pickup truck he was driving hit a car that had pulled over after running out of gas, as well as another vehicle that had come to assist that vehicle,” per Pro Football Talk. “The two children were in the second vehicle.”
Police said they could smell alcohol on Reid’s breath and that his eyes were bloodshot. Reid pleaded guilty to a DUI in 2008.
“The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving outside linebackers coach Britt Reid,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
Oh, wow. That man just screwed up his life big time. Jail, civil lawsuit, and I PRAY that the child fully recovers, or he will have that on his conscious for the rest of his life. One bad decision….
You know, that was an awfully kind headline. I’ll be most of us thought it would be because of COVID. A more accurate headline would have been,: Chris Reid will miss Super Bowl due to tragic DUI.
First off, his name is Britt Reid. Secondly, and I realize this isn’t very fun for everyone with an internet connection, I think we should hold off judgment until Britt is charged and the facts are presented to us by KCPD. Of course, the easy assumption is DUI and Britt fucked up again (being an addict isn’t easy to overcome), but I just HATE the internet age of GUILTY until proven INNOCENT. Social media lynch mobs are the worst.
Do you have internet. He admitted to it
I didn’t know Andy’s son is the Green Hornet. Maybe he can send Kato in his place.
