Canada Bans Unvaccinated Travelers from Planes and Trains

Despite America’s flaws — and the number is growing alarmingly — you have to sit back and realize other countries practice madness to a far higher degree. That includes our neighbors in Canada.

According to the Toronto Star and Canadian Press, unvaccinated travelers over the age of 12 won’t be able to board a plane or train in Canada beginning today.

Further, a negative COVID-19 test will no longer serve as a substitute for most people. So get vaccinated or stay where you are.

“If you indicate to your airline or railway company that you’re eligible to board, but fail to provide proof of vaccination or valid COVID-19 test result, you won’t be allowed to travel and could face penalties or fines,” the government’s website reads.

In addition, the government has issued warnings on social media that it will not allow Canadians and permanent residents abroad to return home without a full slate of approved vaccines.

And then the Canadian Press tried to spin the news, claiming Canadians appreciate these rules:

“The vaccine mandate was met with a positive reaction from Canada’s airline industry when it was first announced in October, though some companies worried about making the necessary preparations in time.”

The policy went into effect on Oct. 30, but the government allowed a transition period for unvaccinated travelers.

Next, the Canadian government says it has requested guidance about whether it should institute new standards on the use of boosters to combat the Omicron variant. So Canadians may need boosters too if they ever plan to hop on a train again.

  1. Is it embarrassing? Of course. But let’s be clear, as a Canadian with an American fiancee I’m not allowed to LEGALLY drive across the border to come visit her because I’m not vaxed. Yet how many have ILLEGALLY walked across the southern border unvaxed this year and been given help to stay? So sick and tired of being punished by the US government for playing by the rules while it rewards the people who break them.

    Both countries are screwed up.
