Can The Patriots And Niners Play 'Let's Make A Deal' For QB Jimmy Garoppolo?

San Francisco 49ers starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo is in an odd position. On one hand, he was the starter in a Super Bowl just two years ago. On the other, he's had a lot of injuries, and many think that he's a flash in the pan who is getting close to his last chances.

It sounds like one team that is more than willing to give Garoppolo a chance to be a starter and hopefully be successful are the New England Patriots.

New England went through a transition in 2020 with Tom Brady moving on to Tampa. The team inked former Carolina QB Cam Newton, hoping he would be able to get back to the form he played at when he was the MVP of the NFL.

It didn't happen.

Newton showed flashes, but he didn't play to the potential the team needed, and it sounds like while coach Bill Belichick would embrace his return as a backup, his days of being a starter in the NFL might be done for now.

Where does that leave Garoppolo, and what can the Pats do to entice the Niners to allow a deal to get Jimmy G to return to New England?

A trade involving players and draft picks would be a start, but the Niners and Pats would both need to figure out a fair cost to both sides.

Niners GM John Lynch has already said Garoppolo is the team's starting QB come September, but a lot can change in the NFL if you come with the right offer.

With so much fluidity in the QB spot, moving Garoppolo for draft picks might be the best move the Niners can make, and the Pats would then have their QB back in the fold.

New England has more than $66 million in cap space, so money isn't an issue, but they also don't want to give up important draft choices just to acquire a quarterback.

Free agency in the NFL starts in just over a week, so keep an eye on Garoppolo if the Niners and Pats can make a deal.
