Cam Newton Shares Strong Message About New England's Losing Streak

The New England Patriots are not the same team we have grown accustomed to seeing over the years. They are down, and they know it. A three-game losing streak with a 2-4 record does not get the job done in Foxborough.

Starting quarterback Cam Newton knows that it doesn't, and he is not happy about it. He made it clear in a tweet released by the Patriots on Thursday afternoon.

"Losing is not acceptable in this locker, in this county, in this state, in this area, in this region. So, Cameron Newton, you need to pick your expletive up. That's what I've learned," Newton said in the video tweeted out by New England.

Newton's play is a concern right now. He started the season with quality performances in back-to-back weeks against the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks. The team still dropped the second game, but Newton performed well.

Since returning from a minor battle with COVID-19, the former No. 1 overall pick has not been the same player. Only 350 total yards (255 passing, 95 rushing) in two games to go along with five interceptions and zero touchdowns.

The offense has scored only 18 total points in that span as well. It's been bad, and Newton takes responsibility for it. But it is one thing to say you need to pick up your play. It is another to actually go out and do it.

Two of the next three games will be be tough.

The first game includes going on the road to take on a 5-2 Buffalo Bills squad, currently the favorites to win the AFC East. The second game includes welcoming to town a Baltimore Ravens team that currently sits at 5-1 with one of the most complete rosters in the NFL.

We will see how the season progresses for Cameron Newton and the Patriots, but for now, they're at least saying all the right things.
