Cam Newton Makes It Clear He’s Ready To Play Again

In case you forgot, Cam Newton is still out there, and a few teams could still use a real quarterback. Could Newton be their answer?

“Hell yeah, I still want to play football,” Newton said in his latest YouTube video.

Newton, 32, was released by the New England Patriots before the season in favor of rookie Mac Jones. Newton has been looking for a team ever since.

Teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and several others may want to give him a look-see. That is, of course, if Newton is willing to serve primarily as a backup.

But what he doesn’t seem to realize (yet), is that a reserve role is better than no role.

Newton has never been a backup in the NFL. A few teams that were said to be interested before the season (such as the Washington Football Team and Dallas Cowboys) made it clear they were satisfied with their current QB crops. Still, there could be room for him … somewhere.

That said, Newton is a far cry from his Carolina Panthers days. He started all 15 games when healthy with the Patriots last season, completing 242 of 368 passes for 2,657 yards and a career-low eight touchdowns. He also threw 10 interceptions.
