Buzzer Beater Keeps Akron From Embarrassing Buckeyes

College basketball has only been back for 24 hours, and we already have a thriller under our belts. Tuesday's showdown between No. 17 ranked Ohio State and an unranked Akron should've been a cake walk for Buckeyes head coach Chris Holtmann and company. However, it took a last-second layup to end it at 67-66 Ohio State.

We love buzzer beaters -- we like upsets even better.

And here's the fadeaway and-one three-pointer off the finger tips of junior guard Ali Ali that nearly sparked the upset by putting Akron ahead with six seconds remaining. A +1280 that would eventually go to waste, according to FanDuel.

Ohio State forward EJ Liddell led the way with 25 points that was otherwise a struggle offensively. This is what makes college hoops so entertaining. Young kids who, when heavily favored, face immense pressure that often bursts a pipe professionals tend to avoid. Last night, Akron nearly delivered a season-altering loss to a ranked team.

Welp, what could've been.
