Buy Chipper Jones' Georgia House With A Net Over The Pool For Errant Tee Shots

In all my years writing about athlete real estate, I've never come across a house with a net over the pool because terrible golfers slice golf balls into the pool area. Chipper Jones is selling his Alpharetta, Georgia house on the 426-yard No. 5 at The Manor Golf and Country Club, and the pool area is a sitting target for bad golfers who can't control their new Callaway Epic drivers.

Chipper and wife Taylor are selling the sprawling 10,195 sq. ft. masterpiece on 4.4 acres -- in a golf community! -- for $3,000,000. And I have to figure the pool net comes with the house. Now, before you laugh at the thought of a net to prevent being plunked by errant drives, think about the money that net will bring in over 10 years. You'll literally be swimming in Pro V1s.

I get it, if you're rich enough to buy a $3 million home, you don't need to bother collecting golf balls and selling them. So let the guys who usually dive into the ponds come over and fetch the balls off the nets -- and then make them pay you for them! Throw the money to charity at the country club Christmas party, and you'll be an absolute hero.

From Chipper's realtor Katie Brannen with Ansley Atlanta Real Estate, Llc:

Grandeur and luxury await in this stately home, privately gated & ideally situated on 4.4+/- acres in the exclusive community of The Manor GCC. This elegant masterpiece showcases impeccable design and a long list of exquisite details including custom limestone mantels, richly detailed millwork & coffered ceilings, stunning hardwoods and designer lighting. A large and thoughtfully conceived kitchen features an oversized Quartz island, bespoke cabinetry, built-in breakfast banquette and a suite of premium appliances.

The sumptuous main level primary suite overlooks the gorgeous backyard and has a limestone fireplace, large seating area, private laundry room, morning bar and opulent bath with dual vanities, enormous walk-in shower, separate whirlpool tub and massive walk-in closet. The enviable terrace level boasts a professional-grade media room with surround sound, game room with kitchenette and bar, 1000 bottle wine cellar and access to the spectacular grounds that include a stunning heated saltwater pool with rock waterfall, a two-story pool house, stone fire pit, massive outdoor kitchen with two pizza ovens, athletic field, basketball court & batting cage.

Private setting with professionally landscaped walking pathways and direct access to the golf course.

Mortgage: Realtor says $10,300 per month with the typical 20% down. Now, make sure you look at the grounds here. You'll need a team to maintain all of what's going on. Chipper has what looks like a soccer field just to the north of the main residence. And there's a basketball court beyond that. What I'm trying to tell you here is that you'll need an ATV to get around the property.

The costs are going to add up, but you always have that golf ball revenue if things get tight.
