Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen Comments On Contract Extension

Young players in the NFL today not only have to become good players, but they also have to worry about their second and maybe even their third contracts.

One such player who is already looking ahead is Buffalo Bills up and coming quarterback Josh Allen, who has become a star player in a short time.

Buffalo made the obvious move of picking up Allen’s fifth-year option, meaning that he will be under center for the Bills though the 2022 campaign, if he stays healthy.

Both sides have also spoken about a long term deal, and there’s a chance that Allen and the Bills could pound one out before the start of the upcoming season.

“I’m just trying to be the best quarterback that I can be for the Bills,” Allen said.

“That’s why as players, most of us, not all of us, have agents to take care of that side of things. Again, that’s the least most thing I’m worrying about right now. I’m just trying to find ways I can do better and be better for this team, and help us accomplish the goal that we want to accomplish.”

Thus far in his three NFL seasons, Allen has been impressive, starting 43 games and going 25-13-0.

In that time, he’s only gotten better, throwing a total of 67 touchdowns and 31 picks in his career. He led Buffalo to the AFC title game this past season, where they had a tough setback to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen says there are good reasons to get a deal done with the Bills sooner rather than later.

“I think on your guys’ end, getting it done quick would kill all these questions that you have about it,” he said.

“Again, I’m focused on being the best version of myself. Being the best quarterback, best leader that I can be for this team day in and day out.”

  1. Josh Allen‘s off-season quarterback coach believes he is truly a transcendent player. He is on an upward trajectory and I think it would be a mistake for a Buffalo to not sign him before this season. There is talk amongst the “experts“ that last year was a fluke and he will regress this year. Anyone that has followed the kid knows that is very unlikely. Tremendous work ethic and we know a tremendous athlete. It will be interesting to see how big a deal he gets… Very interesting.
