Buckeyes Linebacker Thrown Off Team After Tweeting ‘F*** Ohio State’ During Game

Ohio State’s K’Vaughan Pope has been dismissed from the team following what looked to be the senior linebacker quitting mid-game on Saturday.

During the Buckeyes’ home win against Akron, the linebacker was seen throwing a tirade on the Buckeyes’ sideline due to a lack of involvement in the defensive game plan.

Head coach Ryan Day announced on Sunday the senior was dismissed from the team but will continue to have the use of programs for student-athletes.

“Senior linebacker K’Vaughan Pope has been dismissed from the Ohio State football team,” Day said in a news release, per WCMH. “K’Vaughan will continue to have the use of programs that benefit our student-athletes, such as our Student-Athlete Support Services Office, and we will support him with his progress toward graduation. He will remain on scholarship through the duration of this semester.”

Pope seemingly confirmed his ousting from Ohio State after deliberately calling out the program with a profanity-laced tweet intended as retribution — “f*** ohio state,” Pope tweeted.

The tweet was deleted, and he went on to wish his teammates good luck.

Pope apologized for his actions in a tweet on Sunday, saying he was “going to take this time to reflect and work on my mental well-being.”

Pope has played in 31 career games and has two tackles this season. He becomes the second linebacker to leave Ohio State in the past week — Dallas Gant entered the transfer portal Wednesday.
