Auburn Hires Boise State’s Bryan Harsin as Next Head Coach

Update: It is now official. Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin has been hired as the next head coach at Auburn.

There has been yet another development in the ongoing Auburn coaching search. According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, the Tigers are closing in on a deal with current Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin.

That news was tweeted by Thamel on Tuesday evening.

Brandon Marcello of 247Sports also added an interesting tidbit of information regarding the hire. Harsin was actually the coach who replaced Gus Malzahn at Arkansas State back in 2013. Now he could once again replace him, this time on The Plains.

Harsin has been the head coach at Boise State for seven seasons now. His record for that program currently sits 69-19 (.784). It isn’t his first stint with the Broncos, however. He was also the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2006-10.

Stay tuned for more updates on this potential hire.

  1. Butch Jones followed Brian Kelly around at coaching stops before finally landing his own big-time gig at UT…how’d that turn out Vol Nation? 😂 Looking forward to seeing the cow college down south right back in this position 3-4 years from now when they buy this guy out too.

  2. Great hire! The power brokers didn’t get their way and our AD stood strong. Yes James, we will see in 3 to 4 years, because Sabin won’t be coaching a Alabama then. Always love “cow college” remarks from people who work at Winn-Dixie. Just remember Alabama has fans and Auburn has graduates.

  3. Okay, if you’re playing the long game I see an glimmer of value here, otherwise Auburn looks like supreme idiots. You paid a guy 21 Million to walk away, got turned down by 4 or 5 candidates before settling on a guy who’s never head coached a P5 program, now he gets thrust into the Lions Den of the SECW.

I can promise you one thing, Bama is very happy with this hire. They can’t wait to see a guy who’s spent most of his life in Idaho trying to recruit against Saban. And to the moron’s like Trevor Matich who are saying “This guy will coach up 3 stars to play as well as your 5 stars”. That approach might win 7 or 8 games in the ACC or Pac 12, but it’s never going to be good enough at Auburn.
