Bruce Arians Not Surprised Taysom Hill Starting Over Ex-Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians is as confused as most fantasy football team owners.

He is wondering who will take the majority of snaps at quarterback for the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Keep in mind, Arians and the Buccaneers don't even play the Saints this weekend. That honor belongs to the Atlanta Falcons.

Yet Arians was asked about the Saints' QB situation, anyway.

And he actually answered.

For now, Taysom Hill is expected to start in place of the injured Drew Brees. Jameis Winston will be the backup -- though he is expected to play. Winston was actually the Bucaneers' starting last season and led the league in passing yards. (Oh, and interceptions.)

So, coach, surprised that Hill is starting over your previous QB in New Orleans?

"Not really, Arians told reporters. " a dynamic guy and he throws the ball a lot better than people think. He’s been there longer. I would probably just guess they’ll see both of them.”

Arians and the Buccaneers have already lost twice to the Saints. Brees was healthy for both games. But now he's out, likely for at least several weeks. The Saints are in first place in the NFC South at 7-2. The Buccaneers are 7-3 and in second, with Monday's game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers looming.

So Hill, Winston, whoever. Arians is probably just happy that for now, he doesn't have to see Brees again.
