The ongoing saga between free agent Jadeveon Clowney and the Browns may come to a head on Wednesday when the two sides meet for a reported second time this offseason.
Reports surfaced Sunday evening that Clowney was heading to Cleveland to speak with the Browns again, with an expectation that the two sides would agree to a deal.
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reports that Clowney is due to arrive in Cleveland on Tuesday evening and visit with the Browns on Wednesday.
If he passes his physical and the contract details can be finalized, he’ll likely be a Brown by Wednesday afternoon, probably on a one-year ‘prove it’ deal.
The Browns have been looking to stock up their defense this offseason after that unit let the team down when quarterback Baker Mayfield and company couldn’t score enough points.
The team already inked one defensive player they think will give them a boost this season, the 2017 No. 26 overall pick Takk McKinley. The former Atlanta Falcons pass rusher is expected to come in and be a situational pass rusher to help out former first overall pick Myles Garrett.
Clowney spent part of the 2020 season with the Tennessee Titans, but his season was cut short after knee surgery.
The pass rusher’s future in Tennessee was decided last month when the Titans signed former Steelers edge-rusher Bud Dupree to a five-year deal worth $82.5 million.
