Browns QB Baker Mayfield Dismisses Fans Who Booed Him On Sunday

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was able to dodge the media after Cleveland’s 13-10 win over the Lions on Sunday, but not on Monday.

After another subpar performance in which Mayfield went 15-of-29 for 176 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, the FirstEnergy Stadium crowd in Cleveland let Mayfield and the Browns have it. Boos rained down as the Browns had trouble putting away the only team in the NFL without a win. Mayfield called out the fans who booed him during his press conference on Monday, per ESPN’s Jake Trotter.

“Those are probably the same fans that won’t be quiet while we’re on offense and trying to operate. So, don’t really care,” Mayfield said.

Mayfield’s play this season has been much maligned by fans and the media. Though he was selected first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft and is now in his fourth NFL season, Mayfield is still looking for a contract extension.

Through 11 games this season, the Browns (6-5) have gone from potential Super Bowl contender to fighting to make the playoffs in the competitive AFC. Mayfield has thrown for 2,166 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Mayfield addressed not speaking with the media on Sunday, saying he was too frustrated to speak at that time.

“I’d be the first to tell you I played like sh*t,” Mayfield said.

  1. Can’t have it both ways though. Selfie generation Players like Baker Mayfield that do dozens of commercials, endorsements and who constantly put themselves out on social media with nothing but ME ME ME ME ME ME, I I I I I I….

They can’t all of the sudden bemoan negative aspects of the spotlight and get all melodramatic when their play can’t back up their mouth.
