Brooks Koepka Discusses The Origin Of His Beef With Bryson DeChambeau

After months of questioning the origin of the Brooks – Bryson beef, we finally have our answer. At least from Koepka’s point of view. Speaking at the Travelers Championship earlier this week, Koepka cited a conversation DeChambeau had with his caddie and an instance when he went back on his word as the beginning of golf’s biggest rivalry.

"I thought it was just interesting when walked up to my caddie and told Ricky that if I had something to say, to say it to his face," Koepka said, per Yahoo Sports. "I thought that was kind of odd."

Koepka continued, "When we had that conversation (at the Northern Trust), we agreed on something, and he went back on it. So, you know, if you're going to go back on your word, I don't have much respect for that."

Per Koepka’s recollection, DeChambeau approached his caddie at the 2019 Northern Trust after Koepka made critical comments about the slow pace of play at the Dubai Desert Classic earlier in the season. Prior to their final tee times, both golfers seemed to have settled any differences between them.

Months went by with no issues between the two. So Koepka was surprised when a DeChambeau tweet which poked fun at Koepka’s physique surfaced online. From there, it was on like Donkey Kong!

The two top-10 players have now traded jabs over social media and on camera for the last year and a half or so. Most recently, DeChambeau appeared to “photo bomb” a Koepka interview last weekend, which further stirred the pot.

Both DeChambeau and Koepka are playing in the Travelers Championship this week, leaving the golf world plenty of beef to digest over the weekend.
