Broncos Teddy Bridgewater Owns Up To 'Business Decision' Tackle Attempt

Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater saw film from Sunday's game and let's just say it was awwwkward. The eye in the sky doesn't lie, and it showed a less than convincing tackle attempt from Bridgewater during an 83-yard fumble return by the Eagles. Bridgewater's business decision played a major part in Darius Slay returning the fumble for a touchdown. Prior to the scoop and score, Philly led the Broncos by just a touchdown but ultimately won, 30-13.

Bridgewater's lack of effort left him embarrassed and wanting to destroy the evidence.

"We watched as a team. Coach pointed it out, that hey, my effort had to be better there, and I totally agree,'' Bridgewater told reporters on Monday. "That's not, you know, the type of tape I want to put out there. It's one of those situations where you get pissed after you watch it because you know how much this game means to you, you know guys are out there trying to make a play."

The Broncos QB appeared to have a good chance of stopping Slay if he would've exerted even minimal effort. But Bridgewater instead opted to keep his game pants clean and devoid of grass stains.

"I'm right there, the opportunity to just dive, sacrifice, do whatever I can to help the team, and in that moment, I failed,'' said Bridgewater. "I own up to it. ... That's one of those moments I have to own up to the fact I didn't give everything I had in me on that play.''

Rather than hide from the film (or the ball carrier), Bridgewater is taking responsibility for his poor effort.

"When you slow it down, it's like, man, just give more effort. ... I just needed to just lay it all out. ... I'm not going to sink in my chair or feel bad Coach called me out. I take full ownership.''

Now that he's tackled his own effort, maybe he can use that same approach on Sundays.
