MLB has been dealing with the fallout from over a dozen Marlins players testing positive for Covid-19, and it has caused scheduling issues for the Phillies, Yankees and Orioles as well. Today comes some rough news via veteran MLB reporter Jon Heyman:
Brewers-Cardinsls game tonight postponed due to positive test

Sources: Cardinals had positive tests, forcing postponement

That’s a real dagger. Hopefully everybody is safe. We will update this story when further clarity is available.
I understand this story is developing, but what is the point of expanded rosters if teams are going to shut down games/series at the first sign of a positive test?
The toady MLB bigwigs are in their CYOA mode again.
.
I agree
Exactly Sean.
And look at the Jimmy Johnson example from NASCAR. Positive test, and a couple of days later negative. So was it a false positive? Was he positive well before the test, thus late in the infection period when tested and the subsequent test the infection had cleared?
Too many variables and too much panicked reaction. No room for reasonable, measured action.
People are letting their emotions get the best of them. The rank and file would often react emotionally. But I used to feel like I could depend on leaders of business to provide reasonable, measured actions. Somewhere along the line, that disappeared.
Agreed these tests seem to be all over the place going to be hard to get in a season like this.
Just postpone and reschedule. NBD.
It will become a big deal if they cancel the season over these breakouts, which A LOT of people want to happen for political reasons.
But if they just shrug and let the players get over it and continue to play games, that would be a huge factor towards pushing America past this silly excessive panic.
It’s just like any illness. Most people catch it and eventually get better. Only a few actually develop complications and die. A covid outbreak shouldn’t be treated any differently than a flu or cold outbreak.
