Bowl Season Odds: Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl

A pair of two-loss teams will try to prove they are better than their one-loss opponents as favorites in the Peach and Rose Bowls on New Year's Eve and Day, respectively. For full betting previews for all bowl games head to OddsShark.com.

Peach Bowl: Houston (12-1) vs Florida State (10-2)

The 18th-ranked Houston Cougars will attempt to win consecutive postseason games for the first time since 1980 when they meet the ninth-ranked Florida State Seminoles in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Thursday.

The Cougars have lost in seven of their last 10 bowl appearances and find themselves as seven-point betting underdogs against the Seminoles, but they did upset the Pittsburgh Panthers 35-34 as 5.5-point dogs in last year's Armed Forces Bowl.

The good news for Houston is the underdog has covered the number in seven of the past 10 Peach Bowls. The bad news is Florida State has a five-game winning streak in the month of December and has gone 8-2-1 against the spread in its last 11 bowl games.

The Seminoles had won six straight in the postseason before falling to the Oregon Ducks 59-20 as eight-point underdogs last year in the Rose Bowl, which was one of the national semifinal games in the College Football Playoff.

Rose Bowl: Stanford (11-2) vs Iowa (12-1)

The sixth-ranked Stanford Cardinal hopes to make its case as the best team not in the College Football Playoff when they take on the fifth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in the Rose Bowl on Friday.

The Cardinal have dropped two games by a combined 12 points, losing 16-6 to the Northwestern Wildcats in the season opener and 38-36 to the Oregon Ducks on November 14 as big favorites both times.

Stanford features one of the most dynamic players in the country in running back Christian McCaffrey, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist after breaking the single-season record for all-purpose yards with 3,496. Iowa will be focused on stopping him as the team looks to rebound from its lone loss to the Michigan State Spartans in the Big Ten Championship Game.

The Hawkeyes started the season by going 12-0 straight-up and 7-5 ATS, then pushed against the Spartans as three-point underdogs in a heartbreaking 16-13 loss.

Stanford is six-point chalk versus Iowa, and the favorite has won six of the past eight Rose Bowls. The Cardinal are also 5-1 ATS in their last six postseason games while the Hawkeyes have failed to cover the spread in six of their previous eight matchups with Pac-12 opponents.
