Billy Napier Becomes Yet Another Coach Out on Auburn

Billy Napier, the head coach at Louisiana, has become the latest to turn down Auburn in their head coaching search. Here’s what Bruce Feldman reported on the matter:

Shannon Terry, who founded the college sports site 247, was the first to report the news on Napier, and he says to keep an eye on UAB coach Bill Clark:

Napier is the third head coach today revealed to be out of the search for Auburn. As OutKick’s Clint Lamb covered earlier, Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele are also out of the mix.

How 2020 would it be if this search comes back around to Hugh Freeze?

    Latest on Napier:

“We’re told he pulled his name from consideration after he was offered limited flexibility on staff hires. Napier wanted full authority. It’s a ballsy move for a younger coach, but he’s not your normal young coach. His pedigree is outstanding and he also has that trailblazer attitude.

He’s the kind of guy who walks when he’s seen enough. He’s heard the chatter about Auburn’s political treachery, saw it with his own eyes with the staff edict and said: Nope, I’m good.”

What a shit show! We need to go after Lane for HC and Muschamp for DC. Call it the FU Crew! Picture Macho Man fighting Hogan and Piper jumps in the ring. This is the only way we take down Saban (aka Hogan).

  2. And just think, we have coaches just waiting to get a chance while some get the opportunities to turn down coaching jobs. Only In America. How about taking a look at Marcus Freeman? He’s the defensive Coordinator for the University of Cincinnati? Great leader of men and Luke Fickell swears by him. The end

  3. One of the underrated reasons Saban is so successful is he came to bama and said no more meddling boosters. They had issues with it similar to Auburn before he got there. The coach has to be able to do what he wants. The problem with guys who have millions to throw around usually think they’re the smartest guys in the room.
