Bill Maher Rips Liberal Media On COVID Lies, Inaccuracies

Bill Maher, the host of Real Time on HBO, is finally ready to call out the liberal media for how it has covered the COVID-19 pandemic over the year-plus. On Friday night, Maher absolutely ripped the that liberal media during his closing monologue.

He started by saying he wanted doctors, the media and the government to give news to him straight, not twist the message because they feel like the average citizen can’t handle it.

“Over the past year, the COVID pandemic has prompted the medical establishment, the media and the government to take a scared straight approach to get the public to comply with their recommendations,” Maher said. “Well, I’m from a different school. Give it to me straight, Doc. In the long run, that always works better than you can’t handle the truth.”

Maher then dove into a database researchers from Dartmouth have built that monitors COVID coverage from around the world. While other countries have been mostly split between positive and negative coverage, a significant portion the coverage in the United States has been negative.

“Researchers at Dartmouth built a database recently monitoring the COVID coverage of the major news outlets across the world and found that while other countries mixed in the good news with the bad, the U.S. national media reported almost 90 percent bad news,” Maher said. “Even as things were getting better, reporting remained negative.”

Shocker, right?

Maher also ripped politicians for “staying in practice” with all the lies.

“When all of our sources for medical information have an agenda to spin us, you wind up with a badly misinformed population, including on the left,” Maher pointed out.

He wasn’t close to being done either. It was roughly eight minutes of destroying the way our country has dealt with and covered the coronavirus pandemic. Maher praised the Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for “protecting his most vulnerable population, the elderly” while lighting up New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for not doing the same.

The monologue wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine for Republicans, but there was a lot of real, down-to-earth things included. I would highly recommend checking it out below.

  1. Too little too late. He’s just as guilty as the result who wanted Trump out, no matter the repercussions.

If he were to issue a public apology for the lies and fake news that he’s helped spread over the years, maybe we could take him seriously. But he won’t.

Typical reactive liberal. Whichever way the wind blows. No moral compass, unless something affects him personally.

  2. Maher is not wrong. On the obesity point, the MSM and social media is so worried about body positivity and propping up obese people like Lizzo that we can’t have a national conversation about how unhealthy being massively overweight is for people. Face it we are the fattest country in the world and that is bad. I am not talking about 5% body fat in people but daily movement and more veggies than fatty foods is an easy thing to do and will reduce negative health consequences.

  3. The only time this guy respects a conflicting opinion is when it’s his own. He promoted the propaganda like a good Nazi when it furthered the aims of his ideological and political agenda. Now that the same propaganda is obviously getting in the way of his personal agendas he works the spin machine. His good points are simply the result of his having said so many contrary things that eventually some of them will ring true.

    • I hear you but Maher is an old school comedian who believes in free speech and making fun of people and stereotypes. Most of his politics I disagree with but he has always been a free speech supporter. That is why in many liberal circles Maher is loathed because he gets out of line once in a while.

  4. It’s interesting that we think people should be 100% liberal or 100% conservative, and if they are not, we write them completely off.

I agree with Bill on somethings, and disagree with him on other things. And, his audience occasionally hears conservative thoughts come out of his mouth. THAT’s a good thing.

  5. Occasionally Maher goes off the reservation and says something that makes sense. I don’t think he’s sincere given that he’s usually all-in with the leftist POV. I think he does this to pull in a few more viewers to tweak his ratings.

How does this guy even have a show?

  6. Glad he said a few things that needed saying, but it’s REALLY lame that he feels the need to inject Trump/Republican hate/lies in his spiel so libtards will have a slight chance of actually hearing some real info for a change.
He’s still a huge divider. Always has been. Limousine Liberals have a lotta money. And he knows how to get it. Hey wait, is that capitalism?

  7. It’s great Maher is saying this, but he forever lost me when he was rooting for a recession. I can’t take anyone seriously that roots for misery on the country just so that their party can have power.

  8. Maher has actually said some things that make sense i.e. we pay enough taxes. Overall he is way out in left field and is a card carrying liberal with no common sense politically. On the obesity issue it is more about exercise and lung capacity rather than weight. The two go together but there are overweight people who have good aerobic exercise habits and they are less at risk. Weight is just one factor. Exercise makes a difference in all phases of health. Smoking is probably the biggest issue. Including weed Maher.

  9. Fuck you, Maher.

You rooted, nay, cheered, for America to fail. You are a pure anti-American leftist – the harshest possible accusation in my vernacular.

Also, when did Trump say to ingest bleach? You are the definition of fake news. It’s also the playbook of leftists; they lie even when they’re trying to tell the truth
