Bill Belichick Wishes Saban Well After Positive COVID Test

Alabama head coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, which means his status is up in the air for Saturday’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

His unknown participation isn’t the most important factor, however. It’s Saban’s health. And as a long-time friend, that’s exactly what Bill Belichick is focused on.

On Thursday morning, the New England Patriots coach wished Saban a speedy recovery, even if Saban isn’t dealing with any symptoms at the moment.

The quote from Belichick reads as follows:

”Just want to wish him a speed and complete recovery from this COVID virus. I spoke with Coach Saban recently, we both talked about how much we’ve learned about the situation and some of the challenges that have come from it. I know he’s been extremely vigilant and has put a great deal of thought and effort into the care of his players. He shared that with me and we’ve both talked about things that we’ve done, and been helpful and so forth. Just want to wish him the best from all of us here in the organization.”

Belichick hasn’t been hit by COVID-19 personally, but he does have some experience with it. The Patriots have been dealing with an outbreak that caused the game against the Denver Broncos to be delayed.

Players who tested positive include starting quarterback Cam Newton and All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Like with the NFL, major college programs are having to deal with the virus. It’ll be interesting to see how things progress in the coming days.

At the end of the day, football is pressing forward. And that’s a huge win.
