Biden Surgeon General Blasted After Suggesting Masks Be Worn At Home

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy suggested parents wear masks at home with their kids to better protect them against COVID-19, and not surprisingly, critics had a field day.

"There are no words," Arizona congressman Andy Biggs tweeted above a video of Murthy's comments.

"Cowardly and pathetic," added Christopher Bedford, senior editor of The Federalist.

Murthy's comments came during an appearance on MSNBC.

"If you happen to have a lot of interaction with folks who are unvaccinated, let's say you’re a parent like me who has young children at home who are not vaccinated, that’s a circumstance where we’re being extra cautious and wearing that mask even if you’re fully vaccinated, wearing it outside, when you’re in indoor public locations, is an extra step to protecting those at home," he said.

This follows advice from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention earlier in the week, stating that vaccinated individuals in certain areas with "high" or "substantial" coronavirus transmission rates return to wearing masks indoors.

"The time for government mask mandates is over -- now is the time for personal responsibility," Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted. "In May, I signed an executive order prohibiting mask mandates by gov't entities. Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask or have their children wear masks."

Abbott has already shot down a request from the San Antonio mayor and a judge to enforce mask requirements in schools and government offices.

Now, Murthy is suggesting people wear them in their own homes.
