Fun Prop Betting On The Halftime Show

Usher Halftime Props

49ers vs. Chiefs, 6:30 ET

I wrote an entire article about Rihanna last year and I was thoroughly disappointed in her performance. To be clear, I wasn't disappointed in my bets, I thought I had good analysis, but I was disappointed her performance. I get it, she was pregnant and didn't dance or do any of the normal stuff that you'd think she would do. It was essentially her standing in a red suit the whole time singing. My wife is a big fan of the Super Bowl halftime and this year is even doing some sort of betting pool - love that I get to corrupt my wife into gambling as well - but because she's talked about me so much, I'm going to talk about the bets that we can take on Usher's performance this year.

To be clear, I haven't found these on the more popular books like DraftKings or FanDuel. I'm using Betonline for these props, but shop around, maybe you'll find them on other sites.

Type of necklace on Usher - first appearance.

I spent longer than I would like to admit on searching what each of the possibilities. There is Ball chain, Box chain, Cable chain, Figaro chain, Link chain, Rope chain, and Rolo chain. In doing the searches, it appears that Usher's most common jewelry is a ball chain it is also the favorite for the Super Bowl performance. A figaro chain seems to be the one that I thought would be the most common. In doing searches though, I've never seen him with one on. It seems like this might be too common of a chain so I'd rule it out. It is like three little parts and one longer part and the pattern wraps around the entire neck. I actually like a link chain as the winner at +350. This seems to be the chain I've seen in the most pictures - but he also doesn't seem to wear the same chain twice, and honestly, I could be assessing this incorrectly anyway. I'm not a jeweler, I'm a gambler and that's what this is - a gamble.

Will Usher be wearing sunglasses - first appearance.

This one is much more simple - Yes and No. I think this ties into his first song. If his song is slow, I expect him to not have shades on. If the song is fast, which I think it will be, I would expect him to have his sunglasses on. If you watch a clip of his Vegas performance, he comes out with sunglasses on. The song is more upbeat and about dancing. The Yes is -250, I don't think I'd bother playing this, but he should cash this if you wanted to take a shot.

What will happen first on stage?

The favorite right now is a video montage. Do we think he will have a ton of images of himself dancing around before he comes out onto the stage? I would guess that is possible… something has to happen because he isn't just going to walk out there. He is +400 for him to just walk out on the stage if you're interest in it, but I'd pass, personally. Pyrotechnics is the second favorite, tied with Laser Show, and Dancers. This one is likely to just come down to which happens first. The same Vegas performance that I watched has dancers on the stage first, he walks out and then pyrotechnics happen. I think we probably see a Laser show first, then dancers come out, then music starts and then he walks out. Finally they start with the pyrotechnics. I'm taking Laser Show at +250.

First Song

The lines aren't available at the time of this writing on Betonline, but we need to talk about the first song. This is what my wife is doing a pool around. The favorite when I first saw it on Betonline was OMG. I could see him coming out to that song because it is easy and upbeat. If you think he is going to go with a slow song, you could choose something like Burn. I don't particularly like Yeah! as an option. Could he do it? Sure, but the reason I don't like it is because there are too many others in the song and I don't think he brings anyone out early. Boyfriend is a little bit new of a song, but he did open some concerts with that. My choice on this is OMG.

I'll be honest, I'm not betting more than $100 combined on these. I am doing it more for fun than anything. Hopefully, we can get a little bit of money off of these.
