Best of the Bull Pen

Videos by OutKick

We’ve received hundreds of submissions from OKTC readers in the last 5 months, and I have read every single one of them. Sometimes reluctantly. But more often, I’ve been impressed by your knowledge, observations and humor. Each of you have contributed to the success of OKTC, and Clay and I cannot thank you enough. All I want for Christmas is for y’all to keep submitting brilliant articles.

In case you missed them, here are the best Bull Pen posts of 2012:

A fan’s journey from Tiananmen Square to the SEC:

Why? Because it beautifully illustrates the achievement of an underdog and the many ways sports unite us.

Female fans as equals:

Because it’s true. And you’re blocking the TV.

SEC coaches as Game of Thrones characters:

Not just because this article is brilliant and funny, but also because it proved eerily relevant by predicting the firings of Dooley, Chizik and Phillips and its spot on analysis of Mark Richt as Jamie Lannister:

The ladies love him, and he seems like he SHOULD be the guy, but there’s just something……..can’t quite put my finger on it…….he just doesn’t want to be the MAN. Just seems like the type of guy who would be captured by Robb friggin’ Stark in the World’s Largest Outdoor Whispering Wood, right? An enigmatic second banana who manages to stick around and keep it interesting. We feel like we should get more out of both of them……will we? That’s OK, I’m sure the next season will be his breakout performance…..

Bitter rivalries:

Because everyone hates Alabama.

Kidding.

Sort of.

Inevitable personnel changes:

Because we’ve always wondered how the support staff feels when a head coach is fired.

Family and football:

Because we all know it’s more than just a game. It’s a Saturday tradition, a family legacy, and a lifetime of memories.

Did I miss one of your favorites? Let me know in the comments. Thanks again to all of you. It’s been a great year.
