Regardless of what your eyes may lead you to believe, the New York Jets have a plan. Now, whether that plan involves winning is up for debate. But make no mistake, the Jets’ on-field product is by design, and despite a 2-8 record, head coach Robert Saleh plans to stick with it rather than flip the script.
“Usually it’s been a quick fix, followed by a scramble. This is an actual plan,” Saleh said earlier this week in reference to the Jets’ rebuild.
Robert Saleh's message to Jets fans:

If the plan is to keep the Jets in the AFC East basement, he’s doing one hell of a job. New York is poised to miss the playoffs for an eleventh-straight season. Apparently, Saleh prefers a scenic drive towards the post-season, while Jets fans would rather take the express route.
“I respect the heck out of the urgency from the fans and the wanting to flip this thing, but in fairness, this is the first time this fan base is actually experiencing something like this,” Saleh said.
Actually, they’ve experienced a similar type of “plan” for the last ten seasons. But…semantics!
“I feel like Joe [Douglas] is doing a phenomenal job with a really, really concise plan on how to build from the ground up, and there’s a lot of exciting pieces on this team that are hidden in these losses,” added Saleh. “But when you sit back and watch it from our perspective and the combination of veterans and youth, it’s definitely going in the right direction and eventually, while frustrating today, is going to be awesome when this thing gets flipped.”
If ever there were an opportunity to for a forward flip, it would be this weekend against Houston (2-8), a game only the mother of a player would dare sit through.
Saleh continued: “It is euphoria or disaster, there is no in between. We embrace the expectation. We want to win.”
Sounds like a plan.
