Bears Won't Be Bringing Back Free Agent Offensive Tackle Bobby Massie

For teams that are going to be looking for an offensive tackle in free agency, it appears that there will be a quality one available in Chicago.

That player is OT Bobby Massie, and according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the tackle is going to be free to go as the Bears are not in a position to offer him a deal.

Getting rid of Massie saves the Bears over $5 million in salary cap space.

He's not the first Bear free agent who isn't returning, as the team is already dumping cornerback Buster Skrine. The club is trying to clear up cap space prior to the start of free agency.

Last season, Massie played every snap for the first seven games prior to suffering a knee injury that ended his season.

He is expected to be ready to go and be 100 percent for the 2021 campaign.

Massie joined the Bears as a free agent in 2016, inking a three-year deal after he was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals back in 2012.

The tackle inked an extension in 2019 for four seasons with $14 million of the contract guaranteed.
