Auburn Contacted Hugh Freeze Earlier Tuesday, Per Clay Travis

Head coach Hugh Freeze has worked football miracles at Liberty, so it's no surprise that Freeze would be drawing interest from programs in the power conferences.

And according to our own Clay Travis, Auburn has reached out to Freeze about its own vacancy.

Freeze has been at Liberty since 2018 and signed a five-year contract extension with the school in December 2019. Freeze and the Flames finished 8-5 last season and are 9-1 this year. For the second straight season, they are headed to the Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla. They are scheduled to face Coastal Carolina on Dec. 26.

Auburn fired Gus Malzahn earlier this month. He had been the Tigers' head coach since 2013. Boise State's Bryan Harsin has also been linked to the vacancy.

Freeze coached Ole Miss from 2012-16, compiling a 39-25 record.
