Atlanta Rapper Makes It Rain At HS Graduation, Seems To Understand Marketing 101

Instead of throwing away money on some worthless college degree, Atlanta rapper Metro Marrs walked across the stage at his high school graduation last weekend and started pulling out piles of cash and made it rain on his fellow graduates who had to think they were taking part in the filming of a 3 a.m. BET rap video.

Video from the event shows Marrs taking his pile of money and launching it like he was at one of the dozens of legendary Atlanta strip clubs. Let's face it, this is the least intimidating move in Atlanta rapper history, but it still led to school officials getting all bent out of shape and calling in the police to detain Marrs, who had even more money under his graduation gown.

What's the charge here? Inciting a riot. Uh, it's not like he pulled out a 9 & started gangbanging on the stage. This kid is turning pro at something other than burning through stacks at college. The principal should commend the kid for having focus this soon after finishing high school.

Is he great with his money? It depends on how many rap albums/singles this kid moves via the content explosion associated with this stunt. $5k to $10k is pennies for the footage and notoriety Metro Marrs got via this stunt, and he won't do prison time! Guys, this is a win for Marrs. Street cred without having to shoot someone and do 35 years is absolutely a genius move. We're not even talking 5-10 years for manslaughter. He won't even need a lawyer in this case, which I have to assume was dismissed.

And he won't have to attend college to obtain some dumb marketing degree. That said, I agree that he'll need to get hooked up with a financial advisor to handle taxes, a retirement strategy, and what he's going to need down the road for health care to bridge him from the rap game to Medicare.

The lesson here for all the school administrators working graduations this weekend is to relax a little bit, especially when the copycats make it rain. It's innocent fun, as long as nobody breaks out a gun and tries to rob another grad of their dollar bills.
