Arkansas State Coach Butch Jones Feeling Good, Schedules Oklahoma For 2023

After spending three seasons in Tuscaloosa as an assistant to coach Nick Saban, Butch Jones is back on his own. For the first time since 2017, he'll lead his own program and try to keep Arkansas State's recent success going.

Part of that success is getting big games on the schedule. As of Wednesday, we can say mission accomplished. The Red Wolves announced they will play a game against the Oklahoma Sooners on Sept. 2, 2023. It's a ways off, but it's locked in.

According to A-State Nation with 247Sports, Arkansas State will get paid $1.35 million guaranteed in order to play. Not the typical payday, but it's solid.

In addition to Oklahoma, the Red Wolves have teams such as Washington, Ohio State, Michigan and others on future schedules. Jones and company are ready to rock and roll. Now, they need to pull off an upset in one of those games somehow.
