The Seattle Seahawks have squashed rumors that they may be looking to trade star quarterback Russell Wilson, but no one can deny there’s been an uneasiness between the sides.
And plenty around the NFL seem to think Wilson will be available. If not now, then in the near future.
If that’s indeed the case, who might be the frontrunner? Well, it’s way too soon to say. But one rival executive picked the Philadelphia Eagles anyway.
“All they’re doing is stockpiling picks for next year, so they can get weapons for Jalen Hurts or acquire one of the top two overall picks to draft a quarterback,” an NFL executive told Mike Sando of The Athletic. “And I would put Philly in the driver’s seat for Russell Wilson next year if Seattle moves him. That would have Howie Roseman written all over it.”
Interestingly, the Eagles’ front office and coaching staff are said to be a little bit split on Jalen Hurts heading into 2021. But right now, Hurts is their starting QB. It is likely to remain that way.
The Eagles may want Wilson, and may be making moves to land him, but odds are, he will be in Seattle for at least another season. By the end of it, all the trade buzz surrounded the prized quarterback may not even exist.
